Electric Moon, a project that has been weeks in the making that was launched last week in Bristol. Mounted on a previously rundown, tagged wall, the piece acts as a colourful mural by daytime, depicting abstract faces and phases of the moon framed by a hand-painted, silver galaxy. By night, the cubist moon faces gradually start to glow, surrounded by with an electric blue light, with flickering eyes that gradually change colour. The dark commuting route is transformed into a vibrant, immersive and exciting space. 3D wooden eyes, slightly set back from the faces of the moons, give the illusion of movement, following the viewer as they move down the path.
The installation is the work of Zoë Power, a Bristol-based artist. The idea came to Zoë who frequently took the unlit path as part of her commute.
