I rely on intuitive associations, remembered forms, repeat patterns, and chance encounters with my chosen materials to provide structure and visual vocabulary. As an artist I am interested in the history of a painting. I prefer to let the viewer see my diversions and decisions and where I’ve been in my thought process. This results in a surface that not only exploits the layered qualities of different media but also different levels of finish. Playing with space and form, I attempt to uncover curious juxtapositions that occur daily between thought, word, memory, dream and reality to create a compelling image. While the images invite story, there is no plan. I like to follow a cooked line.
