Looking at the night sky has always inspired me. I like to go outside and count the stars and see the changing faces of the constellation and notice the changing phases of the moon, which has such a direct effect on all of our emotions. So naturally, the Great American Eclipse of 2017 called me to create work around the notion of the perfect circle. The idea of the sun and moon coming together so close in space that one could obscure the other had me developing ideas about the concepts of perfection, and the divine, and things being introduced and then eclipsed from my life or hidden from view.
