Born in Mexico City, my first formal studies in art took place at La Esmeralda, the famous school founded by Frida Khalo and Diego Rivera.
When I eventually came to the United States to attend college, family pressures veered me towards a degree in business. I ended up degrees in business and Art. The next 14 years were spent developing a successful computer business, until my vocation to be a painter allowed me to waste no more time. In 2004, I took the plunge to become a full-time artist.
My current series, “Dreamers” explores the idea of duality in human existence by juxtaposing different styles in the same painting. I use a classical oil technique in the figure to render external appearance, while the fluid acrylic abstract expresses the internal life of the psyche.
