Michigan-based photographer, Kaitlyn Rode, finds herself escaping from the mundane through her travels. Her most recent work captured her six-week experience on the Island of Hawai'i. She aims to capture a feeling where time ceases to exist and a feeling of simply being is prominent. An Uncle (Hawaiian elder) that she met, described the phenomenon as “dream time." Kaitlyn is not sure what causes dream time, but she hypothesizes that it is the lack of repetition or, structure on the Island. It could also be that phones are not used as much, and people are more present. Whatever the cause, she hopes to bring home the feeling of dream time and share it through her work.
