I have a background in photography. I'm currently in school to get my MFA, but during my first semester of grad school I found the medium to be a little bit limiting for my current conceptual ideas. I turned to drawing really because I'm just happy with the materiality of making marks on paper. The drawings I'm currently exploring are aesthetically inspired by pop culture, contemporary comics and anime. I'm not sure where I'll go from here, but I'm finding a lot of enjoying exploring illustration.
The drawings I'm currently making stem from relationships I share with loved ones. I combine more realistic, figurative depictions of my friends and family with illustrative abstractions of how I personally experience these people. I'm not sure how far it'll go. What's important to me right now is that I'm getting my thoughts out.
