Growing up in the 90s, I have a vivid memory of what my hometown, Adelaide, was to me; certain buildings, attractions, shops, and landmarks have left a lasting impression on me. However, in the modern, fast-paced world, people often forget what we used to have around, or even what is still around. I aim to encourage the viewer to pause and take note of the things that often take a backseat in our lives.
My goal is to immortalize this period of time; documenting Australia now, as we are on the verge of a dying era. Each painting has a connection to me, even if only subtle. I place a piece of myself into each work. I choose to leave the scenes vacant of people and life to give the air that something has or is about to occur. This way, the viewer can place themselves in the setting and recreate their own memory or narrative.
