My dad gave me his old Minolta camera that he used at work in the 1970s and 80s — he worked in power plants in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. To shoot my first roll, I asked him to take me to some of the plants — now in some state of disrepair or closure. A couple of weeks later, my youngest brother and I decided to do a winter road trip to off-season, frosty northern Florida. The beaches were cold and we spent most of the time in a small-town bar/arcade. These images are a little snapshot of a couple of weeks with my family and, within them, I see what we once hoped our lives would be, versus what they have actually become. I think many people in America once had assumptions of entitlement that have plateaued into a sadder reality. Rachel M. Ward [@rachelwardphotos]
