This current body of work titled, (DIS)CONNECTED, is a project that is an investigation of his relationship with his family and his sexuality through the use of portraiture and the domestic interior of their Latin American home.
Since looking through his family’s photo album, the snapshot aesthetic has seeped into his work and he has adapted it into his own style. Through this, he is portraying his identity through the lens of his feelings. It’s as if there is a lack of emotion or a missing puzzle piece that he is trying to put together with his family as a way to show others that they are not alone in their own journey of self-acceptance.
This helps to further emphasize the work through his family’s history and values.
