Once dubbed the opioid capital of America, Dayton is a small midwestern city that once had a uniquely close-knit youth subculture. Dayton, Ohio is a series documenting the party culture spanning from 2016 to New Year’s Eve 2019. It was shot primarily on film, with some digital, in varying states of intoxication. The goal was to preserve these moments and the people exactly as we were in this time. These are people with whom I have a personal relationship, whether it’s a close friend, an ex-lover, or a single encounter. I’ve always wanted to remember everything, and my role in the party scene quickly became the one who recorded it. I wanted to save these scenes for the people who were there, and give a glimpse inside to the people who weren’t.
