These paintings of faces are about my family, friends and people around me that I drew in my hometown in Inner Mongolia before I came to Japan.
They are like a circle of friends about me. I try to depict the mental state of each of them, and the unseen side underneath the faces.
At the same time these paintings repeatedly deal with my relationship with the real world self and others. They reproduce these images and try to infuse them with my own full-bodied emotions.
When I left my hometown and moved to Tokyo, a new culture and society full of consumption made it impossible for me to continue working on this subject.
This is where I discovered that my link to this land in northern China comes from the depth of emotion with these people in the paintings.
