I have been working on a photo book along with a friend based in Crown Heights, Brooklyn and some of the surrounding neighborhoods. Taking portraits of people, finding and scanning random objects, getting testimonials from business owners and locals, all blended with personal memoirs of each interaction. As unfiltered as possible while extracting the beauty of our daily lives. Small moments that we take for granted or don’t see. All these elements blend into a cerebral depiction of the world outside our doorstep. I’ve been using 3 different formats to showcase the Crown Heights I know. I have been using 35mm & medium format to capture life as it naturally occurs, Super 8mm as a representation of my internal feelings, and poetry to depict my meditative journey.
