Submission Sculpture

Constructed Paradise

On a societal and personal level, I’m interested in analyzing escapism and control, through the looking glass of the opulent Rococo aesthetics, Classical and Ancient Sculpture. Ignoring reality and seeking subjugation of either ourselves or others can all be seen as a way to deal with the fear of uncertainty. Through out Art History you often see paintings or sculptures of women the same way that you see paintings of still lifes with bowls of fruits or paintings of family heirlooms or jewels. These objects of desire are insinuating luxury, wealth or abundance. Similarly, today objects or food are often sensualized in advertising. Any mundane object with a model next to it, can imply the good life. My making comes from observing the writing on the wall and not knowing what to do about it.
