My version of contemporary wildlife art focuses on imparting meaning through symbolic use of color and a side of Surrealism. Much of my work draws on archetypes, folklore, mythology, and the like. I work with stories and animals from all over the world in order to create connections to animals for people in various walks of life.
That's the goal of my art, really. I want to create connection between people and animals. I believe that this is a way to form a bond that inevitably creates greater awareness around and possibly action for conservation. It's subtle artivism, but it's there.
At the surface, I want to add beauty to the world. In the deep creases of the wrinkles I paint so often, I'm nudging the world to change.
