Mandi Keighran is a collage artist based in London. She creates geometric cut-and-paste collages using old fashion magazines. Each work is based around a particular colour and has between 16 and 504 individual hand cut pieces.
She begins each work by deciding on a colour palette, and then searching through her collection of magazines to find related images. Some works are created entirely from a single issue, or even a single story within the magazine, others are sourced from dozens of different magazines. She then begins the process of cutting and placing pieces, visually connecting them through line and shape.
The collages are based around the facets of diamonds and, more recently, the curved hypotrochoid and epitrochoid patterns produced by a Spirograph toy.
