In the "City Portrait" series, I photographed many daily life images based on my life experiences in Beijing, Xiamen, Taiwan, and Vancouver, including fruit stalls on the corner, city parks, and seascape. The crowds and the strikes and protests of groups, etc., seem to be only fragments of urban life, but they are the most authentic and natural state of these cities. In the process of conceiving how these images are reorganized, I did not simply combine the images according to the location. Instead, they were disrupted and recombined to form each group of independent narratives. This group of images is not so much a portrait of each of the four cities, but rather a dialogue between the four cities.
