My work is coming out of a kind of auto-fiction that plays through my head. What emerges are paintings tend to that thread of connection to my Australian home. The blending of memory and imagination have produced landscapes that have become the immersive backdrop to my narrative paintings that center queer storytelling, community and perceptions of the female body. Using an instinctive mix of gouache paint, dispersion pigments and acrylics, the striking and brilliant chroma of the paintings are tempered by a gritty and tactile surface of the cold pressed archival paper that is meticulously stretched over wooden panels. What plays out on this surface is a relationship with line and shape, blending potent and layered environments with decisively graphic figures that unseat the viewers sense of reality.
