After years of being a called brutish, clumsy, too-strong (in a bad way)…. a bull in a china shop… my disdain for the phrase grew. Was I being called this because of my above average sized body? Or are people intimidated by young, strong women and assigned-female-at-birth people?
It was time to turn the passive aggressive insult into something I could tolerate, maybe even be proud of being called. Bulls, in actuality, are gentle, graceful, and cautious animals. This stippled triptych depicts the strength and elegance bulls possess but illustrates a dark, destructive undertone to represent my self-anger and disdain towards the phrase itself.
