Anya Gudimova (b. 1995) graduated from the University of Alaska Anchorage with a bachelors in Painting in 2018. She was born in a small town close to the border of the Black Sea in Eastern Europe, and migrated to Alaska at the age of 8 where she stayed the remainder of her school years. The nature of both her home town and Alaska heavily influenced Anya’s artistic expression and continue to be a significant part of her work today. Drawing inspiration from her day dreams and past experiences, she blurs the boundaries between reality and the surreal. Through the lens of femininity, Anya’s painting explore topics such as intimacy, and desire.
