This photographic art series features a close friend of mine, Samuel Brown, sitting by the pool in his backyard. Throughout this shoot, my concern was to primarily focus on playing with gender norms and to present Brown in a new light. I brought in objects with stereotypically 'feminine' connotations, such as fruit and jewels, to highlight and promote these ideas, and really just wanted to see how comfortable he would be. The new image we constructed was something different to Brown's regular day-to-day identity, and hopefully overall, can shed some light on other ways to interpret masculinity. Brown did fabulously as a sitter for these works, and it has since remained an interesting conceptual series for myself as an artist.
