“Birth As You Please”, an art book of birthing stories; a collective research project with 21 birth stories collected from mothers and one father from Canada, U.S, Bolivia, Russia, Brazil, Belgium, France, Greece from different age groups and socio cultural backgrounds. The diversity of birth giving experience and the ancestral indigenous practices along with the modern ones are portrayed with birth art paintings and poetry that accompany each one of the birth stories.
What is motherhood really about? When does it really begin?
I hope this book adds a grain of sand that leads to a more respectful, mother-centered birth giving creation process, so that more and more mothers can claim and say “I birthed as I pleased”.
