Joey Solomon is a 20 year old photographer currently studying for his BFA at NYU. Last semester, Solomon conducted an independent study while abroad and shooting across Australia and New Zealand. The resulting body of work, titled 'Benumbing', tackles feelings of isolation in displacement. Self portrait images utilizing Solomon's physical body are placed in conversation with self portraits of Solomon through unfamiliar landscapes. The following images are highlighted selections of a narrated era that is at certain times lost and quiet, and other times warmly exuberant.
