In Beirut, a plastic chair on the street reserves a parking spot. This occurrence is part of unwritten rules that everyone seems to be aware of without ever questioning the nature of those informalities.
Beirut Street Museum is a conceptual museum that takes you through the streets of the city, by experiencing its unexpected visual and verbal artifacts, that usually go unnoticed. By shedding light on those social occurrences, the BSM makes us (re)consider what shapes our visual culture, regional landscape and heritage. Challenging the notion of the open museum and bridging it with the values of the street, our pieces of art are made of available, local and repurposed materials.
The BSM is an invitation to wander the city through the experience of these new (or renewed) encounters, where the city, itself, is the museum.
