These cotton canvases are evocative of the experience of isolation during this unsettling period of social distance. Depicted in batik technique of wax drawing on a whole fabric and hand-dyed, overlapping lines and figures are layered, combining multiple viewpoints to reflect different emotions occurring simultaneously. They capture the trace of the creating performance, hand movement and my own mental landscape. These canvases connect pictorial languages and motifs to create what can be described as ‘composite state of mind‘. The figures in the drawings not only respond to the current situation and the absence of human contact, but the physical detachment between figures indicates underlying feelings of disconnection.
