Baño de mujeres (Women’s bathroom) makes a nod to the public-private space of the bathroom shared by people of the same gender, but in reality it goes into the private bathrooms of women in Buenos Aires, to build a visual imaginary of a great “bathroom”.
Intimacy, security, freedom, experimentation and silence are some of the words they use to describe what this space means to them. The bathroom as a place to think, to cry in private, to take photos and to meet one's own reflection.
This series was made between 2022-2023 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where I visited the bathrooms of over 50 women to document their daily rituals.
