Axial Tilt

Axial Tilt Statement

I paint abstractions with the camera using meticulously constructed 3-D collages as the genesis. Each photograph is created completely in-camera and, as with analog film, I leave the results to chance. It is through this mediated loss of control that the images begin to take form representing what we don’t normally see, whether planetary or molecular. Like a funhouse mirror, the resultant images bend, shift, and collide, forming an ethereal riot. I refer to Laszlo Moholy-Nagy who said, “The enemy of photography is the convention, the fixed rules of ‘how to do it’. The salvation of photography comes from the experiment.”
