America gets more interesting the farther away you get from people. Our cities are in decay. The suburbs are indistinguishable and have long surrendered to the logo class. The small towns are skeletons of bygone eras clinging to an eroding memory of what people used to think of when the Star Spangled Banner played at baseball games. I travel the outer regions of this land to rediscover and illuminate the remarkable things that have been left behind. The sacred patches of earth far enough away to not need a gate and entrance fee. The small towns teetering on the edge of extinction. The houses, mines and railroads that have been abandoned in the wilderness. I use projection mapping to alter the perception of these spaces and create works that challenge traditional notions of installation art and landscape photography.
