I am but a Peruvian man who saw his first painting at 18 years of age. Western painting and its depiction of sex, excess and violence became intoxicating to me due to my upbringing in Lima, Peru. A place where violent riots and uncensored animation were openly broadcasted on national television in times of dictatorship. Stumbling upon this adult media at an early age left a lasting impression on me and became the alphabet for my visual language.
Questioning conventional power dynamics and the sexual politics that dominate our world, I strive to paint with power, rather than shielding myself behind my aesthetics.
