Social media has made embracing flaws and individuality as a part of queer society, although society tells us that the world around us is very much gendered. Arbitrary westernized standards define so many people, stepping outside of that construct ensures alienation. People naturally categorize others, meaning people will always assume I am female; when I am nonbinary. Although this incorrect assumption of gender makes me uncomfortable, I present myself in a way that properly addresses myself.
In this piece, I am showing the behind the scenes of my life; the parts of me I don’t openly express but play an integral role in my life. This shows some of my insecurities and how I adress them, but will also show what a lot of other nonbinary people do to feel happier with themselves in this somewhat unaccepting society.
