I started taking photographs in junior high with a Minolta camera. My interest in photography accelerated while studying at the Biosphere 2 Center in Arizona. The art director of the Center gave me film and in return my photos were used for marketing purposes. After a 15 year hiatus during my medical career, I purchased a digital camera and have been busy photographing landscapes, architecture and portraits. Recently, I have been transitioning from color to black and white. I am becoming more aware of lighting, shadows and their relationship to patterns and structures within a composition along with the emotions that can be created with the interplay of these elements. The thrill for me is looking at the mundane features in my immediate surrounding and finding overlooked elements of mood and possibly a story to capture on film.
