Through the abandoned structures that line the American West, I found a complex bond between memory, history and progress. Trough the places that were left behind, I found a cycle that persist of ideas of utopia and a Manifest Destiny within America as we continue to grow but forget our history of failures. Through these the modern ruins, I sought to observe the history of failure within the west in order to acknowledge the influence of expansion within the culture of the United States. In exploring this relationship between culture, politics and the forgotten history in the Abandoned West, I sought to convey how these places are current reminders of history and how it unfortunately repeats.
