A selection of images by German photographer and mother Sally Elena Milota. Currently living and working near Hamburg, Milota specializes in 35mm film and digital documentation. Her work explores the profound relationship between children, their surroundings and their loved ones, focusing on the early connections which make individuals strong for life:
“These photographs belong to my book project ‘Always At Your Back’ which explores the foundational bonds of childhood. What does a safe place feels like? Mother’s lap, Dad’s shoulders, grandmother’s arms or lying next to someone you love. It’s about having a safe space to grow, to learn, to rest, to be brave, to fight for something and to have faith. It is an ongoing exploration of childhood bonds and how they form the world around our children, the foundation for becoming strong individuals.”
