1. PORTRAIT – Human subjects are the focus here.
2. NATURE – Images related to land, sea, sky, the natural world.
3. STREET – Street photography is generally understood to be candid unposed moments of everyday life in public spaces. Images may spontaneous and chaotic or they may be more quiet observations.
4. COLOUR – Images may feature one colour or an explosion of many. Or maybe they capture a few that feel in perfect harmony with one another. How can you make the viewer notice the colour first?
5. FASHION – Whether these images are editorial, lookbook, shot in studio or not, we want to see your most striking work.

TJ Martin is a self taught filmmaker from Seattle who won the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature in 2012, making him the first film director of African-American descent to win an Academy Award for a feature-length film. Below are a few images of last year’s zine which was made possible by the folks at Format. This year they are also generously providing 3 “Lifetime Subscriptions” websites. To enter, complete a submission of any kind and opt-in to their newsletter. We will randomly draw 2 winners from all of the submissions at the end of the Photo Awards deadline, and also award 1 winner or runner-up with one of the three Lifetime Subscriptions.

The 2024 Booooooom Photo Awards are FREE to enter. Anyone can submit one image to one category. If you would like to submit multiple images and multiple categories, consider becoming a member here!

5 Winners will receive:

• $5000 USD in cash prizes (5 x $1000 USD prizes)
