Born in Morocco and raised in Belgium, photographer Mous Lamrabat studied as an interior architect before getting into photography. Drawn to the creativity and immediacy of the medium, Lamrabat has reinvented fashion photography with his sense of irony, critique of consumerism, and cultural references. His work plays on ideas of luxury, counterfeiting, and the natural scenery of his birthplace. Showcasing Morocco from a new perspective, his subjects often appear in traditional clothing (niqabs, abayas, kaftans) alongside the iconography of popular Western brand and pop culture.
