A group of U.S.-based artists and creatives have teamed up to launch a print sale fundraiser in support of earthquake recovery in Turkey and Syria. Featuring images by over 200 photographers, including Joel Sternfeld, Alessandra Sanguinetti, Roger Ballen, Alec Soth, Susan Meiselas, and Vanessa Winship, SIX.TWO Editions encourages photography enthusiasts and the general public to donate to ongoing earthquake relief efforts and obtain original photographic prints in so doing.
Inspired by previous similar fundraising campaigns for different causes, SIX.TWO Editions was created with the aim to raise funds to support non-governmental organizations leading the way in urgent recovery efforts and organizational needs on the ground in the earthquake region. “We knew something had to be done urgently, and that we had the ability to call upon our community for support,” the SIX.TWO Editions organizers explain. “Having seen the success of campaigns like States of Change and Pictures for Elmhurst, we began reaching out to a few fellow artists and were incredibly encouraged by the response. An initial sense of powerlessness quickly turned to the realization that many artists were willing to help and wholeheartedly said yes when we brought up the initiative.”
Each 10″x12″ print is priced at $150 and can be purchased directly on the SIX.TWO Editions website, www.sixtwoeditions.com, through March 20th (midnight EST).
