Artist Spotlight: Alejandra Moros

A selection of recent work by Miami, Florida-based artist Alejandra Moros. Isolating and enlarging details of the human body, Moros’ paintings feel simultaneously ambiguous and intimate, like a surreal dream. She elaborates:

The work, especially the rare larger ones, can feel overwhelming at times, but I think it is because to me, these are images of myself or of the people around me. To an audience however, they’re isolated images without context. I’m always interested in how that disconnect can allow someone to fill in the gaps themselves. I’m also interested in the way color can act as a filter, a further separation from reality. At the end of the day, these are composed imitations of closeness, not true experiences of it, especially to a viewer who has no relationship with the subject.”
