A selection of painting by artist Jessica Delorme (previously featured here). Delorme lives and works in Vancouver, B.C. unceded territories of Musqueam, Skwxwú7mesh, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations. Her work explores moments, both present and remembered, particularly those related to one’s senses and bodily experience:
“I am inspired by the spatial qualities of dreams and memories. I aim to embody the fluid logic of these experiences as I sense my way through making paintings. Colour, form and texture help me navigate creating visual spaces that feel familiar yet distant, as if recalling a memory or a dream. I choose colour combinations that I experience as nostalgic. Things are harmonious while simultaneously wobbly; vivid and yet muddied.”
