Artist Spotlight: Camille Bernard

A selection of paintings by artist Camille Bernard. Bernard graduated from the Glasgow School of Art in 2016. Her work explores themes of community, care, transformation, and adaptability through representations of human forms that appear both reassuring and disquieting. Whether poised and unconcerned, humorous or emotive, Bernard’s characters evolve fluidly with the landscapes they inhabit:

“Bounded together by gestures of tenderness, collaboration and friendship, they rest, embrace, feed, play music, build or contemplate their surroundings in a grounded, sensorial and perhaps, delusional manner. Behind the stillness and candor of the scenes may lie the daunting prediction of an uncertain future and survival.”

Bernard is currently based in Uzerche, Corrèze where she works in a collectively run space. Her latest works are showing at the exhibition Nest at the CAC-Bretigny in collaboration with artists Simon Lahure and Corentin Darréand as well as at the group show, Arcadia, at SISSI Club in Marseille.
