Some truly incredible images by photographer and filmmaker Tony Westman, from a larger body of work exploring the idea of a national dream, spanning over 50 years. Westman says his practice “embraces the Canadian landscape from coast to coast and up to the Arctic Ocean”. He has been working as both a Director and Director of Photography for over forty years, and his photographs are in collections at the National Gallery of Canada, National Film Board, and private collections.
Westman taught at Simon Fraser University, Capilano University, the Art Institute of Vancouver, and Emily Carr University. He is now retired.
This is definitely one of my favourite photo spotlights. See more of Westman’s work below.
