A selection of images by Minneapolis, Minnesota-based photographer and graphic designer Nate Vrieze. Since 2018, when he first started taking photos regularly, Vrieze has been documenting the stillness and understated nature of the midwest, shooting photos during his spare time when not working his day job as a content creator for a record company. He aspires to one day take photographs full-time. When he found his way to photography, he was initially inspired by film and narrative, which introduced him to the aesthetic of documentary photography. “I think feelings of nostalgia and surrealism drive some narrative work, as ambiguous as that narrative might be,” he explains. “I try to make these ordinary moments monumental. I believe when you can recognize and appreciate these moments in everyday life, you’re better off.”
