Made during the harsh New England winter months, the photographs in “Blister,” by Massachusetts-based photographer Joseph Ritchie, are bound together by the season and its visual cues. “Blister demonstrates how isolated the world outside becomes and how it can seem to pause as most people stay indoors during the cold,” he explains. “Even though people tend to stay inside during storms and the colder days, traces of evidence remain in the landscape. Plow marks, polluted snow, and illuminating house lights reveal that the world doesn’t stop.”
Joseph Ritchie is one of 60+ photographers featured in our new photo book, Magic Hour. Check it out in our shop, and see more from “Blister” below.
