Originally from Hull, East Yorkshire, photographer Sophie Stafford is currently based in London. She is interested in developing stories surrounding the value of cultural preservation, explaining: “I am drawn to cultural events and spaces and how they are adapted, preserved, and passed on to the next generation as we are evolving with modern cultures and technology.”
The images she shares here are drawn from several different projects: a series made at the World Nomad Games in Kyrgyzstan, images from the Las Fuentes del Algar nature reserve in Spain, and “Rose of the Desert,” a self-published photobook documenting the International Festival of the Sahara. Her World Nomad Games project was recently shortlisted for the Libraryman Award.
