POW! WOW! Hawaii: The First Decade Exhibition at Bishop Museum

Our friends Jasper Wong, Kamea Hadar and Jeff Gress (pictured, left to right, in this mural by Tristan Eaton) celebrated the first ten years of their POW! WOW! arts festival with a giant exhibition at Bishop Museum in Honolulu, Hawai’i. The show, presented by Hawaiian Airlines, featured over 160 artists, 30 of which created new murals and installations within the gallery space and surrounding campus.

There are large-scale murals from internationally renowned artists including: Cryptik, Hueman, Tristan Eaton, Andrew Schoultz, Persue, Crash, Kevin Lyons, Amy Sol, How Nosm, Greg Mike, Apex, Matt Eaton, Lauren YS, Detour, Hiero Veiga, Aaron De La Cruz, and many others. There are works by local muralists including OG Slick, Solomon Enos, Carl Pao, Cory Taum, Woes, Hula, Kamea Hadar, Katch, Shar Tuiasoa, Kate Wadsworth, and Wooden Wave. There are also installations throughout the space by Slinkachu, Hottea, and Spenser Little.

The gallery space features a series of over 120 2’x2’ paintings by international and local artists, curated by Andrew Hosner of Thinkspace and Jasper Wong. It’s a BIG show. Have a look at the video below!

We were out there for the last festival and we flew home just as the pandemic was starting to hit North America. It feels like a lifetime ago. Huge respect to everyone who helped put this show together, it looks amazing, and it couldn’t have been easy with everything else going on!
