A lovely exploration of the stories our possessions tell about us and our communities by Vancouver-based artist Jazz Keillor. From well-worn living room furniture to beloved blankets, Keillor’s recent work is concerned with “our stuff” and the emotional histories and intimate meanings harboured within them:
“My current studio practice explores material cultural through a multitude of viewpoints, exposing the societal and psychological underpinnings of the physical objects with which we surround ourselves. These works explore the ways in which we, as 21st century humans, accumulate, use and ritualize objects. Using imaginative imagery, composition and form, I visually investigate constructs of home and the identities we construct through acts of place-making.”
