“Esmerelda” by Photographer Parker Stewart

With his series, “Esmerelda”, Savannah, Georgia-based photographer Parker Stewart documents a place that doesn’t exist. Located in the high desert on the border of California and Nevada, the fictional town of Esmerelda is, as described by Stewart, “a land of extremes; elevations ranging from 11,000 ft above sea level to 300 ft below, temperatures that soar to 130 degrees and drop to below freezing in the winter months.” He continues:

“The photographs are made to observe and appreciate the complex beauty of such an extraterrestrial landscape and take the viewer on a long path to a forgotten destination.”
