A selection of pastel drawings by illustrator Clément Thoby from Paris, France. Thoby works as a background designer and art director for animated productions and spends the rest of his time on his illustrations. Focusing mainly on landscapes, Thoby has an almost obsessive mind when it comes to the power of an open setting. As he explains further:
“For my illustrations, I only work handmade with wax pastels and pencil colors. I love how fast you can obtain great vibrant colors with them, and alternate details and more rough zones of drawing, closer to impressionism painting.
I try to give a mysterious atmosphere to my drawings. I believe my goal is to make people feel attracted to my landscapes without knowing why. I like to let them empty so you can imagine whatever story you want. I also try to produce sensitive and soft drawings, something that can give you a break when you look at it. Some drawings are from travels and some are places that don’t even exist.”
