A selection of work by London-based illustrator Charlotte Trounce. While working mostly in paint and maintaining the familiar characteristics she’s come to be known for, Trounce’s work is continually evolving as experimentation with new materials and techniques is an integral part of her practice.
“Whether I’m working on a self-initiated project or a client commission, I usually approach creating a new artwork in much the same way. At its core, my work is figurative. I’m inspired by everyday occurrences: objects, architecture and people, and more recently, landscapes, trees and plant life. However, the way I approach these themes — or the scenes in front of me — is often more abstract, focusing on simple shapes, colours and movement, through considered brushstrokes and marks.”
