POW! WOW! arts festival returned to Guam this year thanks to the hard work of organizer (and artist) Joshua Barrigada and his amazing team. Josh has been one of the most active members in our Booooooom Slack community—always offering positive feedback and sharing ideas—so when he invited me to Guam to speak at the festival this year I jumped at the opportunity to support what he was doing. I love seeing people dreaming big for their hometowns and Josh and his crew of friends are fully committed to pushing arts culture forward in Guam. They aren’t waiting for something to happen, they’re making it happen.
Two years ago Guam was blessed with murals by the likes of Tristan Eaton, Andrew Hem, Evoca1 and several others. This year the visiting artists included ONEQ, Lauren YS, Royyal Dog, Sheep Chen, Caratoes, Artime Joe and Simone Legno. There were also a bunch of local artists painting murals (@soft_kor, @estchu_, @ginodatuin, @aninmish, @lucilonglegs, and many others that I’ll be keeping tabs on).
Have a look below at some flicks from the week and if you want to see all the finished murals make sure to check out @powwowguam.
