Paintings by Los Angeles-based artist Zach Mendoza (previously featured here). Consistently drawn to the dichotomy of order and chaos, Mendoza’s work is a reflection of an ongoing process of fragmentation and re-organization. As he explains:
“When making a painting I enjoy finding ways to rearrange an image or introduce marks that are unexpected and then respond to these marks. Working in this way seems to me a microcosm for life in that things are constantly changing; being broken and reassembled and infinitude of times over in each moment. Often, I find that these paintings become a mishmash of ideas, images and half-truths that amount to a ghoulish collection of the sum of their parts.”
