A selection of recent work from Calgary-born, Vancouver-based artist, Mark Ollinger, who you may remember from his graffiti-esque sculptural interventions (previously featured here). His latest offerings can best be described as elaborate meditations on time or abstract visualizations of a human lifespan.
Mirroring the complex positions and experiences we constantly navigate through symbolic maze-like references, the artwork continuously unfolds, much like time itself. Similarly, informed by graffiti and the way it can highlight a single word, foundational concepts are hidden within the very lines of Ollinger’s designs literally forming the basis upon which everything else emerges.
